This 2016 Freightliner M2 106 was modified by SportChassis LLC in September 2020, with a western-style flatbed as well a Hensley Trailer Save fifth-wheel hitch. The truck is finished in blue over black leather upholstery, and it is powered by an 8.9-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six mated to an Allison six-speed automatic transmission. Bostrom air-ride front seats are fitted along with keyless entry, air conditioning, an Alpine touchscreen head unit, Kenwood speakers, a Tekonsha trailer brake controller, and a flat-folding rear bench. Additional equipment includes a dually rear axle, equipment compartments, 22.5” American Racing ATX wheels, extended bodywork, clearance lights, and air-actuated brakes.
The truck left the factory as an unfinished crew-cab chassis and was subsequently modified by SportChassis LLC with a western-style flatbed, a patterned rear floor, a headache rack, a Hensley Trailer Saver fifth-wheel hitch, a tow ball, mud flaps, storage lockers, diamond-plate accents, and LED taillights. The body is finished in blue with bright green tape-style accents and a chrome front bumper and grab handles. Other details include a black grille, clearance lights, roof-mounted air horns, towing mirrors, side steps, and two reverse-view cameras.
Black and blue-finished 22.5” American Racing ATX wheels are mounted with 255/80 Michelin XRV tires. The truck has a 195” wheelbase and rides on an air-adjustable rear suspension. Stopping power is provided by air-actuated brakes.
The air-adjustable heated front captain’s chairs and flat-folding rear bench are trimmed in black leather with “SportChassis” embroidery on the headrests. Amenities include a center console with integrated cupholders along with power-operated windows and side mirrors, a rearview camera display, an Alpine touchscreen head unit, and Kenwood speakers as well as keyless entry, air conditioning, a trailer brake controller, and cruise control.
The leather-trimmed steering wheel is tilt-adjustable and sits ahead of a 90-mph speedometer, a 3k-rpm tachometer, and readouts for oil pressure, coolant temperature, transmission fluid temperature, fuel level, and air pressure. Transmission controls are mounted on a push-button console to the right of the steering wheel. The digital odometer indicates 40k miles.
The 8.9-liter Cummins L9 turbodiesel inline-six was factory rated at up to 350 horsepower and 1,150 lb-ft of torque, which is delivered to the dually rear axle via an Allison six-speed automatic transmission.
